Guidelines

Lunch & Learns

Lunch and learns are intended to be educational sessions and are open to all classes.  Similarly, recruitment events will be open to all students although it is understood that those closer to graduation may find the events more beneficial.

Any requests for lunch and learns should be sent to the IASDA student lunch and learn coordinators at least two weeks prior to the requested date of the presentation.  The vendor will complete a short form which outlines the presentation content and the lunch and learn coordinators will review the presentation to ascertain educational value.  The presenter may be asked to provide their PowerPoint slides in advance and changes may be requested.  No sales or marketing materials should be distributed; only materials limited to research studies, scientific information, etc.  Students’ attendance does not require the release of personal contact information and no solicitation of personal information is permitted.

A $150 facilities fee for lunch and learns will be charged.  Vendors paying this fee will be allowed one after hours’ recruitment event without any additional charge.

There is a limit of two total lunch and learns and recruitment events per vendor in an academic year.

Recruitment Events

All recruitment events will be held after business hours.  There is no charge if the sponsor has participated in the vendor fair or held a lunch and learn.

The College of Dentistry and IASDA will not promote off campus recruitment events held off campus.  Rooms in the College are available at no charge for after-hours recruitment events and reservations can be facilitated by IASDA or the Office of Student Affairs.

Recruiting for positions in the State of Iowa will be facilitated by the Office of Iowa Practice Opportunities.  Out-of-state position announcements also can be sent to the office but the Office of Student Affairs will be the primary contact for those outside of the State of Iowa who wish to recruit students for practice opportunities.

The annual Vendor and Practice Opportunities Fair will be open to both Iowa and out-of-state practices who are recruiting for practice opportunities.  Out-of-state practices will pay $150.  Participants will be allowed one free after-hours, on campus recruitment event.

Policies not followed could result in restricted access to on-campus events and the vendor/practice opportunities fair.

THE COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY DOES NOT ENDORSE ANY PRODUCT, EQUIPMENT OR MATERIAL IDENTIFIED IN A LUNCH AND LEARN OR AT THE VENDOR FAIR.
